Atlantic Seaboard and Chapman’s Peak Drives
Leaving your hotel we meander along the scenic Atlantic seaboard coastal road. We drive past the popular ‘jet set’ pure white beaches and side-walk cafes of Clifton and Camps Bay. The beautiful clear blue water is deceptive in its invitation as its freezing cold, even in Summer. Bronzed bodies soak up the sunshine and fresh breeze.
As we drive along the coast the majestic 12 Apostles Peaks show off to the left and waves crash on the rocks at the base of the sheer cliffs to our right. This is a favourite drive for visitors to Cape Town and a great start to the day. we then drive over ‘Suikerbossie’ (Sugarbush) pass and are suddenly presented with a magnificent view of what is affectionately known as ‘The republic of Hout bay’. We continue our drive from Hout bay over Chapman’s peak, arguably one of the most picturesque coastal drives in the world, using the opportunity to take photos of Hout Bay and Seal Island.
Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point
We continue onto the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, home of Cape Point. This reserve is famous for ‘fynbos’ some varieties not found anywhere else in the world, as well as buck, Zebra, Dassies (Rock rabbits) and troops of baboons. The latter, whilst seemingly ‘cute’ should not be fed and are actually wild animals. The restaurant serves good meals and affords great views of False Bay.
Cape Point provides fantastic panoramic vistas, easy and slightly more difficult walks and magnificent memories.
Boulder Beach Penguins
We travel back through the Nature reserve along another beautiful coastal road to visit Boulders Beach where a naturalised colony of African Penguins have set up home.
The waiter like penguins are unphased by the human interest and the cleverly designed walkways and viewpoints afford great picture opportunities without disturbing their natural habitat.
Cellar Tour, Wine Tasting and Amble Through Stellenbosch
A visit to Stellenbosch (South Africa’s second oldest town), is a must for wine and/or history enthusiasts. Experience a wine tasting, cellar and cheese tasting tour at any one of numerous world class wineries/estates. This experience is bound to have you purchasing some of this delicious ware.
The town of Stellenbosch is renowned for its attractive white gabled Cape Dutch architecture. Oak trees planted by early settlers (1700’s) line the quaint streets in this University town. Its a mixture of old and new, resulting in the town claiming a unique charm of its own. Depending on time, a second wine tour may be fitted in, before a leisurely drive back to your hotel.
